Back to ExperiencesGrill, flip, and eat with a local "Mama" in the heart of the city.
If Kyoto is the heart of Japan, Osaka is its stomach. And nothing defines Osaka like Takoyaki (octopus balls). But you won't just buy them from a stall—you will master the art of making them.
Join us in a private lounge in Shinsaibashi, the vibrant pulse of the city. Your host is a genuine Osaka 'Mama'—a veteran of the local nightlife culture who knows the city's secrets. In this safe, daytime experience, you'll mix the batter, learn the rhythmic 'flip' technique, and garnish your creations to perfection.
Between bites, enjoy karaoke, a simple sake tasting, and experience the warmth of the 'night world' hospitality in a relaxed, family-friendly setting.
Real experiences from our Takoyaki Cooking Class.

The prep phase. Chop the octopus (tako), prepare the ginger and tempura bits (tenkasu).
The exciting part. Master the wooden picks and learn the wrist flick used by the pros.

Eat your creations! Enjoy a sake tasting, share stories with Mama, and maybe sing a song.

Departure. You are now 2 minutes from the heart of Dotonbori.
Learn the professional technique to create perfectly round, crispy-on-the-outside, creamy-on-the-inside Takoyaki.
Chat with an authentic Osaka Mama. Ask her anything about the city's history and culture.
It's not just a cooking class; it's a party. Sing a song or simply soak in the atmosphere.
Enjoy a simple sake tasting alongside your Takoyaki. Compare flavors—dry vs. sweet—and discover what pairs best with Osaka's favorite snack.
This takes place in a real 'Snack' bar (traditional Japanese night lounge) during the day.
The grill is very hot—not suitable for very small children without close supervision.
We can substitute octopus for cheese or vegetables upon request.
Sake tasting is optional and non-alcoholic alternatives are available.
Wabi-sabi is the beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.
Our experiences are deeply personal. To ensure the highest quality and an authentic family connection, we only host one group per day.
